Looking for a new laptop? If you’re working remotely, like a large portion of Americans these days, a new 5G laptop might be just what you need in Woodward, OK. The 2021 Consumer Electronics Show has shown that remote work functionality is the electronics industry’s main focus these days. Read on to learn more about what’s hot and what you can expect to see at a store near you.

An emphasis on remote work functionality

The latest laptops suggest the industry has taken note of the needs of remote workers. Here are some of the features to watch for:

  • Better webcams: Zoom and other videoconferencing software isn’t going away anytime soon, so the newest laptops focus on really great webcams. (This is great news for anyone who’s wondered why their laptop camera seems to age them 10 years.)
  • Noise-canceling microphones: One of the biggest pandemic challenges has been working from home, especially if you have children, pets or loud housemates. Noise-canceling microphones cut out the background drone that you might not get at the office, like lawnmowers, dishwashers, laundry machines and television.
  • Better audio: At the same time, audio and speakers have improved. Older laptops often have tinny speakers that make it difficult to hear what’s going on, even when the volume is at the maximum level.
  • Blue light blockers: As we all know, the blue light that comes from screens interferes with our sleep and can make our eyes feel a lot more tired. Most of these new models offer blue light blocking features to help your eyes relax.
  • Convertibles: From laptops to tablets, convertible electronics are more convenient for traveling and working on the go.

Try the new offerings from these brands

Whether you’re loyal to a particular brand or looking to make a change, the industry’s biggest names have plenty of new laptops to choose from:

  • Dell: Dell offers several 5G options, most notably the Latitude 9420. It offers a convertible 2-in-1 option, “safe” microphone and webcam features that shut off when not in use, blue light blockers, surround sound and an enhanced microphone.
  • HP: The HP Elite Folio offers optional 5G connectivity, which can be used as a tablet or a laptop. The Elite Dragonfly also has 5G options, along with a 2-in-1 feature, safe microphone and webcam features and better processors. Plus, it only weighs 2.2 pounds, making it comfortable to carry around. Their EliteBook also offers 5G connectivity on certain models.
  • Lenovo: All of Lenovo’s new laptops offer 5G, including the X1 Titanium Yoga ThinkPad, which is a 2-in-1 convertible. It weighs two and a half pounds, and is the brand’s thinnest convertible. Finally, the IdeaPad 5G is a 14-inch notepad based on the Qualcomm 8cx processor—but is five times faster than the 4G model.

These 5G laptop offerings from the most recent (virtual) Consumer Electronics Show are available in Woodward, OK or will be soon.
